Week 2

This week you will need to answer the following questions in your PBL journal:

  • How and why are earthquakes measured?
  • What have been some of the most devastating earthquakes in the last ten years? (Tip: naming them is not enough! Find out as much as you can, such as the magnitude of the earthquake, total lives lost, amount of buildings damaged, estimated financial cost and impacts on the community).

Please note that every person will write answers in their own journal – not one person writing on behalf of the team.

Here are some websites and resources you can visit to help you find the answers to your questions:

When answering questions in PBL, be careful to include information that you have put into your own words – do not copy chunks of text! This is an important skill to learn, and the teachers will know if you have just copied information straight from the source.
